Please reach me at denise@stepforward.fitness if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Absolutely. In fact, you are exactly why I started Step Forward Fitness. We don't start with "no pain, no gain." We start with where your body is today. Whether we are mastering the mechanics of a squat or using 2lb weights to restore shoulder mobility, we start by building a solid foundation. If you’ve ever felt hesitant to move after an injury or a long break, you aren’t alone—that’s a biological hurdle called Kinesiophobia.
[Watch: How to Overcome Fear of Re-injury]
Conquering that fear isn’t "easy," but we do it slow and steady using "scaffolding" like wall supports and suspension straps until your body feels secure again. We don't just "move"—we train for your long-term independence.
Not at all. My 'Step Forward' philosophy applies to everyone—whether your first step is a 2lb weight or a 25lb dumbbell. If you already have experience but feel stuck, bored, or want to ensure your form is proper as you increase your intensity, I’m here to help you level up. We'll work to progress your training scientifically, focusing on 'fine-tuning' your mechanics so you can lift heavier, longer, and safer.
That is what "regressions" are for! As an NASM-certified trainer, I am trained to modify every move. If you can’t lift your arms overhead yet, we work on the muscles that allow that movement to happen safely. We find the "step" that works for you.
My mission is to help you realize that you belong in any fitness space you choose. While I am working toward opening a dedicated Step Forward studio I currently meet my clients where they are most comfortable to start. This includes:
Most commercial gyms have strict "no outside trainer" policies due to insurance and liability regulations. Because I am an independent, mobile professional, I specialize in bringing a high-quality, personalized training experience directly to your home. I provide all the necessary equipment, so you can save the commute time and enjoy a focused, one-on-one session in your own space.
Not at all. For our 1-on-1 sessions, I bring the "gym" to you. As we progress, I might suggest a few small items (like resistance bands) for your "on your own" days, but you don't need a home gym to get started.
I focus on movement and functional strength. While we may discuss how fueling your body supports your energy in our sessions, I do not provide specific meal plans or clinical nutrition advice. My goal is to make you stronger and more mobile!
Think of it as a friendly "meet and greet." We spend about 15 minutes talking about your history and goals, and 30 minutes doing a light workout so I can see how your joints move. It’s free, it’s zero-pressure, and it's the best way to see if we're a good fit.
I believe in 100% pricing transparency - no "DM for prices" or hidden fees. Individual sessions start at $55. You can see the full breakdown and find the right "Step Forward" plan for your budget on my Choose Your Pace page.
No 'forever' contracts here. We work in 4-week training blocks managed through a simple recurring agreement. To keep your momentum high, any sessions in your block must be used within 6 weeks. This gives you the flexibility life requires while ensuring you stay on track toward your goals.
Life happens! If you need to reschedule, just give me 24 hours' notice and we’ll find a time to make it up within your 6-week window. Because I reserve a specific time on my calendar and travel route just for you, sessions canceled with less than 24 hours' notice are unfortunately forfeited. My goal is to keep you consistent—showing up is the hardest part of the "Step Forward," and I’m here to help you stay accountable to that.
